Tributes have been made to Dan Singer, a 48-year-old European commercial bond trader at JPMorgan, who died during the ride last Thursday. His cause of death has not been confirmed.

Singer was a former player at Rosslyn Park FC in West London. He and 11 former teammates were riding to raise money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and The Brain Tumour Charity, via the Lewis Moody Foundation, in support of Crawford Henderson, a former teammate battling a brain tumour.

Writing on its website, Rosslyn Park said Singer was a "much-loved friend."

Donations for the ride have so far raised nearly £66k and are now being made in memory of Singer as well as for Henderson. Others on the ride included Des Anderson, managing partner at hedge fund Marshall Wace.

The 500-mile journey was intended to take place over six days and to match Henderson's journey from Strone in Scotland, via Durham and Oxford Universities, and on to London. Writing on LinkedIn before setting off from Strone on Thursday, Singer said "I am not a cyclist" but that it was a great privilege to be joining the ride for Crawford.

Singer joined JPMorgan from Morgan Stanley in 2013. Tributes to him on Instagram said he was "much loved" and an "amazing man."

The rest of the ride was cancelled after Singer's death. A short ride to Rosslyn Park took place in his memory last Saturday, followed by the planned lunch and fundraising. "Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Dan's wife Michelle, his family and friends, and all those who were riding alongside him," said Rosslyn Park president Adam Tyrer. A minute's silence was held before Rosslyn Park's game against Sheffield.
