An ex-Goldman Sachs MD left a hedge fund. Yes, he is joining Citadel Securities

Where is Ishaan Sethi? Once he was at Goldman Sachs. Then he was at hedge fund Marshall Wace. Now, he is not known to be anywhere at all. Soon, though, we can now confirm that he will indeed join Citadel Securities.

Sethi didn't respond to a request to comment for this article. Citadel Securities declined to comment, as did Marshall Wace. The FCA Register says Sethi left Marshall Wace on June 26th. He will join Citadel Securities in early autumn.

This is no surprise. Citadel Securities is where his friends are. Until late 2023, Sethi was a macro sales managing director at Goldman Sachs in London, where he worked closely with Nohshad Shah, Goldman's then co-head of EMEA rates sales. Before Sethi and Shah worked together at Goldman Sachs, they worked together at Deutsche Bank. Shah also hired Sethi for his team at GS.

Nohshad Shah himself joined Citadel Securities in January 2025. He's the electronic trading firm's head of fixed income sales for EMEA and has been hiring former members of his Goldman team to Citadel Securities, like Frank Flight. Citadel Securities has also hired top Goldman rates trader Nikhil Choraria, who's expected to arrive at the end of the summer.

Shah has now hired Sethi once again. It's like a reunion.
