A Citi lifer in London behind the bank's tech transformation left for HSBC
Citi's overhaul of its technology and data architecture is in full swing and speeding up, but that hasn't stopped managing directors (MDs) overseeing the transformation from leaving. The most recent to depart is its London-based chief information officer (CIO) and global head of functions technology.

Milly Webb has joined HSBC as its CIO of enterprise technology. She spent her entire 24-year career up to that point at Citi, beginning as an interest claims analyst. After stints across multiple middle office divisions, she made MD in 2019 as global head of financial resource management technology.
The functions technology team Webb ran at Citi works on architecture for risk, legal, compliance, audit and more. A job listing for a US-based head of functions technology at Citi last year said the team works on 579 of the bank's 6,500 apps.
It's not just lifers leaving; big-name hires from elsewhere are departing too. David Zimmerman, a hefty hire from KPMG in 2021, left the bank last week for SMBC.
Webb leaves after Citi's bonus announcements, which are thought to have been particularly disappointing in the bank's London office. Her new colleagues at HSBC are thought to be bracing themselves for a disappointing bonus announcement as well.
