An ex-JPMorgan MD is hiring traders at OpenAI
If you work for OpenAI, you might become very rich. The company is planning an IPO for 2027 and was last valued at $852bn. The Financial Times notes that OpenAI handed out nearly $11bn in equity pay to its 8,000 staff in 2024 and 2025 alone. And in May, the WSJ reported that 600 current and former employees of the company sold their shares for $6.6bn and called OpenAI jobs “the greatest lottery ticket of the AI boom.”

Some people from banks already hold these great lottery tickets. People like Tahreem Kampton. Until April 2026, Kampton was a managing director (MD) in JPMorgan’s treasury team. Now he’s the treasurer at OpenAI. And in this new manifestation, Kampton is hiring.
OpenAI is looking for a head of treasury markets to work on Kampton's team. The role was opened in the past few days and pays up to $295k, plus equity. The ideal candidate will have 12 years' experience "across investment management, corporate treasury, capital markets, banking, asset management, interest rate risk management, complex capital structures, credit markets, or related finance roles." Strong modelling skills, strong communication skills and an understanding of hedging and risk management are also a clear plus.
Joining the the OpenAI treasury team could be an interesting business. In 2025, OpenAI generated $13bn in revenues and made a $20bn loss. The company has famously enormous and complex debt obligations of up to $1 trillion involving partner companies financing the construction of its infrastructure.
This might sound like fun if you're the sort of person that can hedge liquidity exposures "where rate movements can create material financial volatility." Maybe you'll get hundreds of millions of dollars of stock if you succeed.
