Standard Chartered's new rates trading head was best known at BofA
As we observed in late September, Standard Chartered has been reshuffling its rates business. It recently parted company with both Bruno Lettich, its head of global rates and macro portfolio management and Mirko Stiglich, its head of macro trading for Europe and the Americas. Now it has someone new, instead.

Paul Bjurstrom is joining Standard Chartered as global head of G10 rates trading. Bjurstrom was last seen at NatWest Markets, where he was a managing director for three years. However, he's best known for his tenure at Bank of America, where he worked for nearly 22 years until October 2022 and was head of EMEA cross currency rates trading.
Standard Chartered didn't comment for this article.
Macro traders have been having a strong year at many banks. However, when Standard Chartered reported its results last week it revealed that its macro trading revenues for the first nine months of 2025 were down 16% on last year.
