JPMorgan trading MD who spoke of jobs like romantic liaisons transfers affections to BofA
Filippo Finelli is not the sort of player to work for multiple banks in quick succession. He is the sort of person to work for one bank for a long time and to weigh his options carefully before seeking to divorce his employer.

Finelli spent 16 years at JPMorgan and was latterly global head of commodities automated trading strategies. He did this job for nine years, but has just left for Bank of America. Bank of America declined to comment, but he will presumably do something similar there.
Finelli appeared on our 2025 list of top algo traders in London. He also appeared in our article three years ago noting his opinion that: "Changing job frequently is like changing partner frequently. It just means you haven’t found your perfect match." If you stay with one employer and work your way up, you will have "everything you would ever want," said Finelli.
Presumably he was writing from personal experience. Finelli's marriage to JPMorgan encompassed being a vice president (VP) in New York, an executive director in London, a managing director in London and then a global head. The FCA Register says he left JPMorgan last week, on the 27th of June.
Bank of America has been building up its commodities trading business. In April, Bloomberg noted that its commodities trading revenues were up 60% year-on-year in the first quarter.
Finelli didn't respond to a request to comment for this article. Nor is it clear how JPMorgan feels about being jilted.
