About the Role
A growing and highly regarded litigation practice is seeking an Insurance Coverage Associate to join its coverage and complex commercial litigation team. This role offers the opportunity to work with sophisticated insurer clients on a wide range of coverage investigations, coverage disputes, and litigation matters involving professional liability, employment practices liability, directors & officers, fidelity, property, excess, and general liability policies.
The team advises insurers through all stages of the claims process, from initial coverage analysis and policy interpretation through litigation, mediation, and resolution. Attorneys in this group enjoy significant responsibility, meaningful client interaction, and the opportunity to work on high-exposure matters alongside experienced practitioners.

Key Responsibilities
- Analyze insurance policies and evaluate complex coverage issues across multiple lines of business
- Draft coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, denial letters, and other coverage-related correspondence
- Advise insurer clients regarding coverage determinations, claim handling, litigation risk, and strategic next steps
- Manage coverage investigations and assist clients with complex claims matters
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation-related filings
- Conduct legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research platforms
- Manage written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and document review
- Attend depositions, mediations, hearings, and other litigation proceedings
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop practical, business-oriented solutions
- Maintain direct client contact and contribute to overall matter strategy and case management
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active California Bar admission in good standing
- 4-10+ years of insurance coverage and/or commercial litigation experience preferred
- Experience analyzing insurance policies and evaluating coverage issues strongly preferred
- Coverage litigation, bad faith, professional liability, D&O, EPL, or general liability experience is a plus
- Experience drafting coverage opinions, coverage correspondence, or litigation-related filings preferred
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and competing deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and sound professional judgment
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team

Compensation: Competitive base salary plus bonus and benefits, commensurate with experience.
