SVP - Corporate Development
Job Description The SVP, Corporate Development, Strategy will be required to provide senior support and thought leadership for developing Moody's growth strategy across the organization including but not limited to:
  • Lead preparation of Moody's annual strategic plan presented to the board of directors. Requires extensive collaboration with senior management and key stakeholders across Moody's global businesses, external advisors, and corporate functional areas, i.e., finance, accounting, tax, treasury, legal, regulatory / compliance, HR, technology, investor relations, and communications.
  • Work with Moody's LOBs to develop robust long-term strategic growth roadmaps that consider organic (e.g., product, innovation & technology) and inorganic growth opportunities (M&A, JVs, venture capital) in both existing and adjacent markets.
  • Provide practical insight to inform analysis and decision making for investment - product, innovation, M&A - and post-investment execution, e.g., how should the initiative be executed; what are key milestones / KPIs; and, what defines success.
  • Conduct strategic analyses of existing and adjacent markets (& market structures) - i.e., where they are today, where they might be tomorrow and how can Moody's best participate to develop growth - to help identify and evaluate potential product, innovation, investment and/or acquisitions opportunities. Critically review and assess market structure, customer workflow and needs as well as trends & drivers influencing market size, growth, profitability, comparative advantage and risk.
  • Perform in-depth economic, industry, and company-specific research and analysis as well as monitoring and analysis of industry and competitor news and other relevant information impacting our global business.
  • Provide assistance to the M&A execution team to help develop messaging for strategic, customer, market and industrial logic, investment highlights; perspectives on market & growth assumptions used to develop acquisition P&Ls; and consideration and assessment of potential investment and/or execution risks.
  • Provide assistance on post-transaction monitoring and periodic deep dives.


Qualifications
  • Strong academic background with 7-10plus years of work experience with a leading management consulting firm; preferably familiarity with the financial and/or information services sector(s).
  • possess a finely tuned strategic tool kit gained at a leading management consulting firm and led a broad range of strategic projects with both business and support functions.
  • should be well versed in market and business analysis & case development and have exceptional relationship building skills with the ability to build credibility and influence at the most senior levels.
  • excellent analytical and technical skills, including strong working knowledge of finance and accounting.
  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills - including the ability to analyze, distil and creatively present complex financial, market and operational information in a straightforward manner.
  • Attention to detail is critical; judgment to work with confidential material; and a "make it happen" attitude to drive and demonstrate tangible results that inform the strategic growth agenda for the company.
  • May involve some domestic or international travel & ability to work flexible hours (for time-sensitive deliverables).
