We are seeking Senior Software Engineer skills (Core Java/Spring) Prior working experience in developing applications with cloud technologies such as AWS is required Prior working experience in implementation of database programming using Java is required Prior working experience with modern software development and testing methodology such as antifactory, GIT and Jenkins CI is required Good to have server-side programming experience with Node JS but not required Good to have web application development experience with Angular and React but not required Strong Work Ethic, Willingness to learn and attention to detail are a must. Excellent communication skills are required Domain: The candidate should have a good understanding of the investment workflow and prior experience in any buy-side or sell-side or custodian shots (i.e. Fidelity, Morgan Stanley, State Street, etc.).

The guideline monitoring team is responsible for providing solutions that meet our Investment compliance obligations. Guideline Monitoring is an integral part of the Portfolio Construction Process - investors and portfolio managers look to leverage guidelines as key inputs into their decision-making process. This critical function also protects the investment and trading process from investment errors.

Members of the team play critical roles in our firm's success by providing technology solutions which improve the quality, speed, and efficiency of a highly complex industry with a sophisticated client base. It is our strong belief that the tools developed by the compliance systems team differentiate us from our competitors in the financial industry.

The guideline monitoring team has been using ION (previously Fidessa/LatentZero) Sentinel for investment compliance since 2009. This platform is placed between Wellington Built portfolio construction and trading platform to support various pre-trade workflows. In addition, the platform also has a lot of workflows to support post-trade and other trade life cycle monitoring compliance workflows. Over the years our team has built a lot of functionalities around Sentinel to help our investors and compliance team gain a lot of efficiencies. The development team consists of a Lead developer and 5 senior developers placed onsite and offshore.
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our development team. This position requires hands-on development responsibilities. The individual will work closely with other members of IT including other developers, business analysts and QA engineers to design, develop, test, implement and support solutions to meet Business requirements. This individual will contribute to the development of solutions to integrate with our highly customized homegrown solutions and other vendor products. The individual will also at times lead the team in firmwide technology initiatives and be responsible for successful delivery and adherence to those initiatives. This position requires an individual to take accountability and keep an open mindset while taking advantage of the learning opportunities. The individual must possess strong work ethic, and attention to detail.

  • Design, prototype and code new software components and applications based on functional specifications across the full stack and optimize it for performance
  • Delivery of high-quality business solutions, including participating in architecture, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support
  • Author architecture, technical design, and support documentation
  • Participate in design and code reviews and ensure the adherence to established code-quality standards (defined by Wellington Architecture Review board as well as Industry standards) within the development and QA teams, such as Continuous Integration, Code Reviews, and all required release documentation
  • Provide feedback to other developers as needed on application design and help troubleshooting issues
  • Work with business teams, product owners, systems analysts, and other software engineers to review business requirements, functional specifications, use-cases, and test plans
  • Provide technical assistance, and escalation point of contract for support issues in production.
  • Leads triage bridges as needed and drives the team to technical conclusions via guidance and consensus
  • Work across various IT teams to coordinate and facilitate infrastructure upgrades, disaster recovery testing, and cross-functional projects
  • Keep track of monthly/daily AWS cost incurred by the applications owned by the team and work with the team to find opportunities to keep the cost down without impacting efficiencies
  • Must have 5 plus years of demonstrated experience designing and developing web applications and services using Core Java and Spring
  • Must have 1 plus year of demonstrated experience of design and implementation of micro-services architecture using Amazon Web Service
  • Must have 2 plus years of demonstrated experience of design and implementation of relational database programming using Java and good understanding of data model and entity relationship
  • Must have 1 plus years of demonstrated Experience with demonstrated understanding of modern software development and testing methodologies such as Artifactory, GIT, and Jenkins CI
  • Good to have atleast 2 years of server-side programming experience with Node JS
  • Good to have familiarity with developing web applications using HTML5, CSS and modern UI frameworks such as Angular and React
  • Ability to understand legacy in-house applications and highly complex and interrelated systems and processing
  • Experience with various software development methodologies, such as Agile
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability and willingness to work in an energetic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong work Ethic
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities effectively
  • Hold an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related subject
