• Every other Wednesday | 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM
• Approximately 37 hours per week
• Overtime available based on operational needs

Position Overview

Citadel Security USA is seeking a dependable Armed Security Officer to support security operations at a secure correctional facility client site in Glenwood Springs, working alongside deputies and correctional personnel to help maintain a safe, orderly, and controlled environment.

The selected Security Officer will perform security duties on-site, support staff during daily operations, and complete detailed documentation. This position requires excellent judgment, professionalism, and the ability to remain composed in challenging situations.

Key Responsibilities

Facility Security

• Maintain a visible armed security presence throughout assigned areas.
• Conduct routine security rounds inside designated sections of the site.
• Monitor common areas, entrances, and restricted locations.
• Observe for safety concerns, policy violations, or suspicious behavior.
• Help maintain a secure environment for staff and authorized visitors.

Operational Support

• Work closely with deputies and correctional officers during daily operations.
• Assist with individual movement on-site following established procedures.
• Support transport assignments when operationally required.
• Help enforce site rules, security procedures, and operational protocols.
• Respond appropriately to disturbances or emergency situations while following established procedures.

Documentation & Reporting

• Complete thorough daily activity logs and incident reports.
• Record observations accurately and objectively.
• Immediately report safety concerns or operational issues to supervisors.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding site operations and security information.

Professional Standards

• Demonstrate sound judgment while working in a secure environment.
• Communicate professionally with site staff, supervisors, and authorized personnel.
• Follow all client post orders, company policies, and applicable laws.
• Maintain a professional appearance and firearm readiness while on duty.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older (required for Colorado armed security licensing).
• Ability to satisfy Colorado armed security licensing requirements before assignment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Ability to successfully complete all required background screening.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous armed security, corrections, law enforcement, military, or correctional facility experience.
• Knowledge of report writing and incident documentation.
• Strong conflict management and verbal de-escalation skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary security team.

Work Environment

• Secure, controlled-access client site.
