Principal Architect, Executive Director - Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure Platforms

Job Description

You will shape the future of hosting and cloud architecture on a global scale. You'll drive impactful solutions, influence technical direction, and collaborate with diverse teams across multiple regions. We value your expertise and hands-on approach, empowering you to lead with vision and deliver results. Your work will directly support regulated-market delivery and architecture governance at scale-offering career growth, technical leadership, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact.

Job Summary:

As a Principal Architect at JPMorganChase within the Infrastructure Platforms organization, you will own the end-to-end architecture for standardized hosting across Public and Private Cloud. You will define and govern classification-driven hosting models, reference stacks, and reusable patterns, ensuring robust security and risk controls.

Your role spans technical leadership, hands-on design, and architecture governance, supporting delivery across 45 Infrastructure Platforms products, 22+ countries, and 100+ regulators. You will partner with product, engineering, and platform teams to translate business strategy into actionable technical roadmaps. Your leadership will inspire and mentor teams, driving innovation and engineering excellence.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Architect standardized, classification-driven hosting models, reference stacks, and reusable patterns.

  • Define and govern datacentre hosting patterns including Hyperscale, Regional, In-Country, and Edge, and enforce default, classification-specific security controls and Risk & Trust capabilities.

  • Drive multi-cloud portability strategy across core platform capabilities and AWS-native alternatives.

  • Embed architecture guidance and validation into engineering workflows to improve delivery quality, repeatability, and audit outcomes.

  • Design and build architecture governance automation tools (e.g., policy-as-code / controls-as-code approaches, automated guardrails, and validation pipelines).

  • Lead and influence across teams and regions through strong stakeholder management, clear communication, and technical decision-making.

  • Mentor and develop senior engineers and architects, establishing strong engineering standards and scalable patterns.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Formal training or certification in architecture concepts with advanced applied experience.

  • Extensive hands-on software and systems architecture experience at a senior level, with a track record of delivering large-scale, mission-critical systems.

  • Expertise in hosting and datacentre architecture across Public and Private Cloud.

  • Proven ability to design scalable, secure, and cost-effective hosting platforms, and to embed architecture guidance and validation into engineering workflows.

  • Experience with horizontal Risk & Trust capabilities including Isolation, Zero Trust, Data Access, Data Residency, and Segmentation.

  • Practical proficiency with AI-assisted development and coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity; demonstrated experience applying enterprise-authorized AI capabilities in architecture and engineering workflows.

  • Experience with architecture-as-code frameworks such as FINOS CALM or similar.

  • Ability to evaluate and integrate AI-enabled capabilities into scalable platforms while meeting resiliency, security, and auditability requirements.

  • Senior technical leadership and team mentoring skills coupled with excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
