What is the role about As the Engineering Manager for the Exchange Domain at Bitvavo, you will play a crucial role in leading and growing a team of engineering managers and cross-functional engineering teams. You will have a significant impact on our core business operations and contribute to shaping the future of our platform.
You will be responsible for driving the engineering strategy and delivery within the core business domain, which includes order flow, matching engine, retail and institutional trading, as well as listing new cryptocurrencies on our exchange. Your focus will be on optimizing trading volume, fast order processing, high-quality market statistics, and ensuring reliability and scalability in this critical part of the business.
How you'll make an impact - Lead and Support: Guide, support, and foster the growth of engineering managers and engineers in the Exchange Domain.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with product counterparts, the CTO, staff engineers, and other stakeholders to execute initiatives that drive engineering excellence aligned with business objectives.
- Define Direction: Work with the team to set the Exchange Domain's engineering direction, establish clear goals and objectives, and create an efficient organizational structure for effectively delivering impact.
- Ensure Engineering Excellence: Maintain high standards of engineering practices, code quality, and testing, emphasizing continuous delivery and scalability.
- Monitor and Improve: Measure engineering efforts' impact, track performance metrics, and identify areas for improvement while promoting a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
How you will be successful - Engineering Experience: Master's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in leading engineering teams and 2 years in leading managers. Experience in organizations of similar size and complexity is preferred.
- Effective Communication: Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying ideas clearly to team members, peers, and stakeholders at various levels.
- Proven Track Record in building teams and leading people: A demonstrated history of designing organizations and cultivating engineering teams through impactful hiring, coaching, and mentoring. Proficient in strategic team planning, goal-setting, and performance management.
- Data-Driven Decision-Making: A data-driven approach to decision-making, proficient in analyzing and interpreting relevant metrics.
- FinTech Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the FinTech industry, coupled with a passion for financial markets and trading. Experience in high-frequency trading environments is a plus.
- Cloud Environment Experience: Familiarity with cloud environments, particularly AWS, and a solid understanding of scalable system architectures.
