Senior Biofuels Sales Trader | Amsterdam
The Opportunity
Our client, an established European brokerage operating across renewable energy and environmental commodity markets, is seeking a Senior Biofuels Sales Trader to join its team in Amsterdam.
This is a front-office commercial role focused on developing and executing business across the European biofuels market, covering both physical products and associated certificates.
The role is suited to an experienced biofuels professional with an established understanding of the market who enjoys building commercial relationships, originating new business and taking ownership of revenue generation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a portfolio of clients across the European biofuels market.
- Originate new business and identify commercial opportunities across physical biofuels and certificates.
- Execute back-to-back brokerage transactions between market participants.
- Build relationships through calls, meetings and regular market engagement.
- Negotiate and close transactions whilst developing your own P&L.
- Develop a clear commercial strategy for your respective market and client base.
- Monitor pricing, market trends, regulatory developments and wider geopolitical factors affecting biofuels markets.
- Provide clients with relevant market colour and commercial insight.
- Work closely with the wider biofuels desk to identify cross-selling and new business opportunities.
- Contribute to the continued expansion of the firm's activities across European renewable fuels markets.
Candidate Profile
✔ 3+ years' experience within biofuels trading, sales trading or brokerage.
✔ Strong knowledge of the European biofuels market.
✔ Experience across areas such as:
- Physical Biofuels
- Biodiesel
- Ethanol
- Biofuel Certificates
- Renewable Fuels
- Environmental Commodities
- OTC Trading & Brokerage
✔ Proven commercial and business development capabilities.
✔ Strong negotiation skills with experience originating and closing transactions.
✔ Comfortable developing and managing an independent portfolio of clients.
✔ Entrepreneurial and commercially driven mindset.
✔ Able to operate effectively within a target and performance-driven trading environment.
✔ Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
✔ Fluent English required; additional European languages would be advantageous.
