Continuously improve the design, processes, and application of risk management systems across the bank, looking to improve the analysis and reporting of operational risk at all levels.
Work with the COO and CTO business areas to evaluate and oversee the outsourcing and business resilience arrangements (Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity), including risk events and IT incident management.
Supports the investigation, analysis and assessment of risk, advise and provide an opinion on the design and implementation of controls and adequacy of action plans to enable the successful delivery of the banks objectives.
Assess the effectiveness of first line risk management practices including providing an opinion on whether processes and controls are sufficient to comply with regulatory requirements, internal policies and standards.
Support the development of the operational risk appetite framework and associated limits for operational risk.
Monitor the risk profile and the compliance with the operational risk limits and produce relevant reports.
Attend relevant committee meetings and working groups meeting to provide the necessary operational risk expertise (input and challenge).
Work with the Change and CTO business areas to identify and review risks and mitigation plans in change and outsourcing programmes and within 3rd parties (including Cloud providers), and provide an opinion on their appropriateness.
Provide effective independent escalation and reporting to the Head of Operational Risk and governance committees.
Over 5 years of Operational Risk experience within financial services.
Good IT knowledge
Good knowledge of Operational Risks, Frameworks, Third Party Risk, Operational/Business Resilience.
The successful candidate will need to have excellent communication skills; as this is an oversight and challenging role, they will need to be able to imbed and champion a good risk culture across the bank.
The successful candidate will need to be able to work autonomously - while at the same time collaborate with colleagues across multiple jurisdictions; they must be a self-starter who is eager to add value and make a permanent long-term move.
Applicants must have experience working with senior stakeholders, challenging and effectively influencing the business as well as participating at risk committees.
