We are looking for a Finance Accountant to join our team. You will be the first point of contact for the complete spectrum of finance related activities of our local office, will be supporting the local management team and will be working closely with our financial experts in the other QBE branches.

Your responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to:

General
  • Support the Finance business plan and appropriately align service delivery.
  • Contribute to the development of team's business plan to maximize productivity and performance.
  • Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure financial obligations are met.
  • Contribute to the refinement of process, procedures, and systems to continuously improve efficiency of accounting.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and information to support decision making and improve financial management understanding.
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including internal and external auditors, to ensure service delivery meets customer expectations.
  • Develop relationships in line with the business plan for the division to support the achievement of its objectives.
  • Act as a point of reference to guide and advise others to ensure the sharing of knowledge and best practice.
Accounting & Reporting
  • Develop and contribute to the preparation and maintenance of accurate accounting records in accordance with internal procedures and statutory requirements to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, codes of conduct and best practice guidelines.
  • Undertake month end activities such as reconciliation of petty cash and analysis of accounts to ensure correct procedures are followed.
  • Contribute to the delivery of full monthly commentary, analysis, and communication of managed expenses across the respective function / division.
  • Contribute to expenses and corporate processes adhering to policies and procedures including authority limits to ensure accuracy and prompt reimbursement.
  • Develop and contribute to the production of accurate financial returns required by internal and external bodies and regulators to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Develop and contribute to the production of reports and accounts ensuring accurate reporting and Management Information in line with respective timescales.
Accounts Payable
  • Maintain effective relationships with suppliers to resolve settlement of amounts owed to suppliers and deal with queries and outstanding accounts.
  • Code, distribute and record invoices to enable accurate processing, prompt approval and to maintain tracking.
  • Arrange payment of invoices, within agreed timescales with suppliers, in order to meet service level agreements.
Your story so far
  • Qualified accountant
  • At least 3 years' experience in finance function, preferably within Insurance Industry
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to manage priorities to meet strict deadlines.
  • Good team player with the capability to work collaboratively and develop strong working relationships.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills in English is a requirement. It would be beneficial to have a good understanding of the Dutch language.

  • Accuracy and excellent attention to detail

  • Experience of using Oracle Financials or other similar ERP system
  • Proficient in data entry and management
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Good knowledge of relevant current statutory, legal and regulatory accounting requirements
  • Thorough understanding of best practice accounting
  • Excellent Knowledge of relevant accounting Software and tools
  • Knowledge of the accounts payable and purchase ledger cycle, procedures and best practice
