DC and Cloud Procurement Lead

Booking.com BV is looking for a Data Center and Cloud Procurement Lead to join our Global Technology Procurement Team based in our headquarters in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The key focus of this role is the development and execution of the Data Center and Cloud category plan across all IT divisions (IT services / Core Infra / Security), working with high profile stakeholders to prioritise, execute and drive value for Booking.com within the category.

The Data Center and Cloud Procurement Lead will have a highly visible position reporting into, and working alongside, the Category/Department Directors to establish a centralised procurement function with an emphasis on DC and Cloud procurement. Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading contractual and commercial negotiations with third party vendors, as well as working closely with Architects within the category.

The role of DC and Cloud Procurement Lead is pivotal in establishing and deciding the current and future development of the category. Overall, the successful individual will be someone with knowledge of, and previous hands-on experience in, Data Centers and Cloud (specifically in leading migrations); someone with an open and flexible communication style who has the ability to connect with many different stakeholders; someone with a proven track record of strong negotiation skills and evidently well-developed business acumen.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • As part of the Procurement leadership team, establish a value add centralised function in line with Bookings strategic directions
  • Lead and manage the overall DC and Cloud Procurement activity across Booking.com including tendering and vendor management
  • Owns business and internal relationships for vendor and commercial management across the Booking's Strategic vendors, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned
  • Leads commercial discussions on new DC and Cloud products and expansion of strategic roadmap
  • Single point of contact for all issues regarding DC and Cloud vendor performance including the management of this performance, third party risks, business controls, reviews, renewals and strategic sourcing for all providers
  • In conjunction with IT stakeholders and business stakeholders - evaluate providers for fit with Booking.com requirements
  • Negotiates key business terms with providers in line with Booking requirements, ensuring all internal stakeholders are involved
  • Leads and oversees engagements on all vendor audits globally, working with local stakeholders as appropriate to manage financial exposure, contractual obligations to reduce risk and to ensure corrective actions are taken when identified
  • Ensure all contractual and working relationships are inline with all compliance obligations

Desired Experience:
  • Experience with data centre and cloud - especially with migrations to cloud
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required, as demonstrated ability to present to Executive Management
  • Strong stakeholder management skills. specifically with experience working with global stakeholders across multiple business areas
  • Strong commercial acumen and business knowledge, especially in building business and looking at ROI as well as experience in managing global programs across multiple vendors
  • Strong negotiation skills required
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal direction
  • Comfortable with making business decisions independently
