Our client is a leading international Bank with an established Private Banking franchise across Asia. With continued business growth and evolving regulatory expectations, the bank is seeking an experienced Head of Business Risk & Compliance to provide strategic oversight of business risk, governance, and regulatory compliance matters across the Private Banking business.

Your new role
You will serve as the key advisor on risk and compliance matters for the Private Banking business while leading the first line risk and control framework.
Key responsibilities include:

• Lead the Business Risk & Compliance function for the Private Banking platform.
• Partner closely with Front Office, Senior Management and Control Functions on risk and compliance matters.
• Drive the first line of defence risk and control framework, including risk assessments, controls monitoring and issue remediation.
• Provide guidance on regulatory requirements, conduct risk, suitability, product governance, cross-border business activities and client lifecycle management.
• Oversee governance forums, management reporting and escalation of key risk issues.
• Coordinate regulatory examinations, audits and thematic reviews.
• Partner with Compliance, Financial Crime Compliance, Legal, Operational Risk and Internal Audit functions.
• Drive risk culture initiatives and ensure effective implementation of regulatory and policy changes.
• Lead and develop a team of risk and compliance professionals.

What you'll need to succeed

• Degree holder in Business, Finance, Law, Risk Management or related disciplines.
• 15+ years of experience within Private Banking, Wealth Management, Business Risk, Compliance or Operational Risk.
• Strong knowledge of HKMA, SFC and regional regulatory requirements relevant to Private Banking.
• Proven track record partnering with senior business stakeholders and managing complex regulatory matters.
• Deep understanding of suitability, client onboarding, AML/KYC, conduct risk, governance and control frameworks.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Fluent English required; Cantonese and Mandarin would be advantageous.
