We're recruiting an experienced Level 3 Systems Engineer to join an established and growing Perth-based Managed Service Provider.
You'll sit within the support team as a senior technical escalation point, taking ownership of complex issues that require strong troubleshooting across cloud, server and networking environments.
This is a hands-on engineering role. You'll continue working directly with technology and clients while also providing technical guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 engineers.
You don't need to be an existing Team Lead. We're looking for a strong MSP engineer who can solve difficult technical problems, take ownership of escalations and help other engineers when they get stuck.
What you'll be doing
- Own complex Level 3 escalations across a varied MSP client base
- Troubleshoot Microsoft 365, Azure and hybrid cloud environments
- Support Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID and Intune
- Troubleshoot networking issues across switching, routing, DNS, DHCP, VPNs and firewalls
- Work across technologies including Fortinet, Cisco Meraki and UniFi
- Investigate recurring problems and perform root cause analysis
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Level 1 and Level 2 engineers
- Work directly with clients on complex technical issues
- Improve technical documentation and knowledge sharing
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and automate repetitive tasks
- Work with third-party vendors where required to resolve escalated issues
- Participate in the senior engineering on-call roster
Technical environment: You'll work across a broad range of technologies including:
Microsoft: Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune, Microsoft Defender, Windows Server and Active Directory
Networking: Fortinet, Cisco Meraki, UniFi, firewalls, switching, routing, wireless and VPNs
Infrastructure: VMware, Hyper-V, Veeam and Datto
Management & Automation: HaloPSA, NinjaRMM and PowerShell
What we're looking for
Previous experience working within a Managed Service Provider is essential.
You'll ideally bring:
- Strong Level 3 or Senior Systems Engineer experience
- Strong Microsoft 365 and Azure knowledge
- Windows Server and Active Directory experience
- Experience with Entra ID and Intune
- Strong networking fundamentals across TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, switching and firewalls
- Strong troubleshooting skills across cloud and on-premises infrastructure
- Experience working directly with clients and managing technical escalations
- The ability to troubleshoot issues independently and take ownership through to resolution
- Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other engineers
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Experience with PowerShell, Fortinet, Cisco Meraki, UniFi, VMware, Hyper-V, Veeam, Datto, HaloPSA or NinjaRMM would be beneficial but isn't essential.
